Children in challenging conditions need a window of opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. Education offers opportunities while knowledge empowers. The process creates opportunities for children in challenging conditions. The pencil is a humble but important instrument enabling children from challenging conditions to "PENCIL a new chapter" in their lives.
The pencils are given to institutions providing education programs for orphanages and/or children from poor families regardless of ethnicity or religion and respect the cultural diversity of the student population.
Pencils have been distributed to:

Pencils distributed in Buriram, Thailand through Dana Citta's Maitri@Work Set up in Aug 2005 by a group of Singapore volunteers, the main focus of Maitri@work is more in the area of education. These include infrastructural projects such as the building of schools and libraries, as well as the disbursement of bursaries for students who cannot afford to pay for their education. Other focus areas include healthcare and social welfare, especially for the elderly who deserve our love and respect for their contributions to society during their younger days. The school reaches out to any child in need of education and the student population includes children from Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu families.
Pencils presented to orphans in the school. Wishing them success in their education and a new chapter in their lives.
Kampong Chai Chee Sunlove Home, Singapore Kampong Chai Chee Sunlove Home provides free tuition to children from low income or single parent families. The familes are unable to afford private tuition. The tuition lessons are conducted by volunteers who contribution their time, expertise and knowledge to make a difference. The tuition classes are open to any children regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds. Colombo, Sri Lanka
