Light on the Lotus Hill book tourmeeting place

Tour date: 6 March 2010
Time: 4.00 PM
Meeting point: Shuang Lin Monastery, Main gate to Tian Wang Dian 天王殿
(See picture on right)

The author of "Light on the Lotus Hill" invites you to the Shuang Lin Monastery where Venerable Pu Liang served as the Abbot from 1917 to 1942.

The tour introduces the history of the Shuang Lin Monastery and explores the different programs Venerable Pu Liang organised to support the China Relief Fund headed by Mr. Tan Kah Kee during the Sino-Japanese War.

We will reconstruct the last few moments of Venerable Pu Liang's life; just before the Japanese soliders arrived to arrest him during the Sook Ching.

Why was Venerable Pu Liang arrested and executed?

What is his historical legacy?

Is this just a local history or are there larger historical significance?

What is the symbolic meaning of the title "Light on the Lotus Hill"?

Come and find out!
