Cat Adoption

Cultural Compass has adopted a cat, Sophie, from Metta Cats for one year.

This cat was found a few weeks ago (April 2007) near a coffee shop in Singapore.

Someone had pierced a sharp object into the left eye of the cat. She was sent to the hospital where the doctors had to remove her left eye.

The police has taken a statement and classified this as an abused case.

Today, Sophie lives in Metta Cats together with her new friends, supported, protected, cared for and loved by the Metta Cats volunteers.

Cultural Compass will support Sophie for a year. Sophie will continue to live in Metta Cats with her new friends.

This sponsorship is a sign of support and appreciation to Metta Cats and their volunteers; people who love animals and who are ready to offer abused, abandoned animals food, shelter, medical care and most important of all LOVE.

Unfortunately, there are irresponsible, cruel individuals who have no qualms about abusing helpless, innocent animals.

Left alone, the abused animals would have died an agonizing death.

Organizations like Metta Cats steps forward to rescue, care for and to shower abused, abandoned animals with lots of affection. To give them all the love they deserve.

If you want to 1) speak out against animal abuse, 2) send a message to encourage Sophie or 3) to express support for the good work of Metta Cats, please write to ccw@culturalcompass.org

Your comments will be produced below.

Hi Sophie ~ meow!

Glad to see you have recovered well from your awful trauma, and hope you have made many new friends at Metta Cats. Nice pix of you on the Cultural Compass page :), it's great that there are all these people to look after cats like us. I too was rescued by kind people, from Farrer Road market when I was a few weeks old.

With loving licks from your e-friend,
Manis

Much praise for cultural compass for adopting the blinded, abused Sophie. The person who took out his inner devils on poor Sophie has given in to his base pleasures. Let him know painful remorse and let him suffer the worst tortures in Taoist hell!

I think it's great that Cultural Compass has adopted Sophie, particularly after her tragic loss of her eye.  The cruelty involved is unimaginable.  Why would anyone poke out the eye of a defenseless little animal?  By adopting Sophie Cultural Compass takes a stand against this kind of cruelty.  Well done!!

Best regards,
George Bishop

It is terrible that animals are treated so cruelly.  They are poor and defenseless, and they are God's creatures.    Cats are pets.  They give us love and affection.   They offer companionship.  They deserve our respect and care.  To treat them badly is despicable and cowardly.  Well done for what you have done for poor Sophie!
Chris

Thank you for giving Sophie a humane home!
I've always believed that the same motives that support human rights support the rights of animals. Many thanks to Cultural Compass for championing these ethics!
